Matthew Poe, Legislative Assistant

Matthew Poe joined Capitol Hill Consulting Group in August 2018, bringing with him a diverse background in politics and media.

Matthew assists the trade and energy team at CHCG, where he works with clients and colleagues to deliver rapid response and real time information on important legislative action and developments on Capitol Hill and throughout the administration. In addition to trade and energy, Matthew serves as the lead Legislative Assistant for CHCG’s subsidiary, International Policy Solutions, which allows him to serve in a variety of capacities with foreign governments and high-level officials. Additionally, he serves as the lead Legislative Assistant on a variety of maritime, technology, higher education, and gaming issues for the CHCG team.

Prior to his tenure with CHCG, Matthew served as a Political Consultant for the Association of State Democratic Chairs (ASDC) in Washington, DC, where he helped shape the organization’s messaging, communications, and training programs for state parties across the country. Prior to his role as a Consultant, Matthew served as an Intern with the ASDC at its headquarters in the Democratic National Committee (DNC).

Additionally, he interned at WKYC Channel 3 in Cleveland, Ohio, an NBC-affiliated television station. There, he assisted a team to report and fact-check on the 2016 Democratic National Convention, Republic National Convention, and General Election for a nightly news segment syndicated across NBC networks.

Matthew was born and raised in Columbus, Ohio, and holds a Bachelor of Science in Journalism and Political Science from Kent State University. There, he was an active member of student media where he earned several awards for his opinion writing.
