News was light on the healthcare front this week as folks are still looking to digest the Phase III COVID-19 package that was signed into law late last week by President Trump.

Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) held a press conference on Thursday (Apr. 2) and made it evident that she wants to build off of Phase III and do an extension of many of the portions of that package, including going further with assisting small businesses, and longer with unemployment benefits. Her remarks indicated that she still wanted to tackle infrastructure, but that it would need to wait for later legislative efforts.

Earlier in the week, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) appeared hesitant to move forward with a broad package focusing on transportation as indicated previously by the Speaker, noting that along with Republican Senators that he wants to see how Phase III rolls out, as it cost over $2 trillion in spending, before deciding on a path forward.
